Description
The bike specialists, trading standard award winners for the past 11 years. Bike ID: #9966 Here at The Bike Specialists we offer the opportunity to own a unique one-off custom built motorcycle, The Harley Davidson 1200 Sportster based Cal Rayborn XRTT Replica. We are very fortunate to have had this come back into our stock from the owner that we sold it to over three years ago.
It has sat unused during that period. This stunning bike was created by local bike builder Mike Oakes using an original 2001 Harley Sportster 1200, he then found an American company that supplied Bull nosed fairings and set to work transforming the bike into its current reincarnation. Custom fuel tank and seat unit followed all finished in the traditional Wrecking Crew Orange, Black and White paint scheme.
Suspension is Koni on the rear and Showa on the front along with 18" Morad wheels. The bike is supplied with a file full of old MOT's, invoices and a Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine from 2011 that featured this bike across 5 pages. The bike will also benefit from a full service and MOT (daytime) prior to sale.

Typical Price Range
All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.

- 2011–2016: £6,000 – £8,500 — Fuel-injected models from this era provide improved reliability and efficiency, representing a popular sweet spot for many buyers.

Common Issues to Check
- Oil Leaks: Inspect the rocker box gaskets, primary cover, and crankcase for any signs of weeping or drips.
- Battery Condition: Harleys are known for draining batteries if not regularly ridden or kept on a trickle charger, so check its health.
- Brake Performance: Test both front and rear brakes for effectiveness and check for worn pads or warped discs.
- Electrical Gremlins: Inspect wiring harnesses for chafing, and check all lights, indicators, and instrumentation for proper function.
- Rust and Corrosion: Pay close attention to chrome finishes, exhaust pipes, and fasteners, especially on bikes used year-round in the UK.
Running Costs
- Fuel Economy: 45 – 55 mpg (depending on engine size and riding style)
- Insurance Group: 10 – 14 (varies greatly by engine size, rider's age, and customisations)
- Servicing: Can be more expensive than Japanese counterparts, with main dealer services often costing £250-£400 for minor and £400+ for major services, though independent specialists offer more competitive rates.
Which Variant Should I Choose?
- Iron 883: A popular choice for its dark, stripped-back bobber styling and accessible 883cc engine, making it ideal for urban riders and customisation projects.
- Forty-Eight 1200: Instantly recognisable by its fat front tyre and peanut fuel tank, this 1200cc model offers a more aggressive stance and stronger performance, perfect for riders wanting a muscular, minimalist look.
- SuperLow: Designed with a lower seat height and revised suspension for enhanced comfort and easier handling, suiting shorter riders or those prioritising a relaxed cruising experience.
- Roadster 1200: Featuring dual front discs, inverted forks, and mid-mount controls, the Roadster offers a more performance-oriented ride with a sportier edge than other Sportsters.
