Description

The Toyota GT86 (2012-2021) is a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive 2+2 sports coupe developed with Subaru, focused on handling, balance, and driver engagement rather than raw power. It features a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated "boxer" engine producing 197bhp, offering sharp handling, a low centre of gravity. Driving Experience: Highly regarded for its responsive steering, balanced chassis, and engaging, raw driving feel.

Welcome to Pontardawe Car Sales Ltd,The Family run Trading standards approved Motor Dealer Established 1975. UK Delivery and Six Months UK warranties available Please ask a member of Our Team. We have utmost pleasure and confidence in offering this beautiful example for sale.

Here we have a very scarce 2014 Toyota GT86 2.0 finished in the best colour in Our opinion. This absolutely beautiful example has covered Just 32,000 miles backed by 9 Service entries and fully HPI clear. This vehicle is a real credit to its last owner who has had this vehicle since 2019!

Most believe this will be one of the last normally aspirated Japanese sports cars that will become a future classic. Back In My day the Celica was the desirable japanese reliable coupe which in my opinion was before its time. The celica GT 16V was around just 150bhp but engaged you as driver with no big turbos or complexity engineering.

It just made you smile with bulletproof simplicity engineering with an incredible driver position making you feel in control and constantly smile! In 2012 Toyota produced the stunning, simple and sporty GT86 which developed 200 BHP through a six speed manual transmission and limited slip differential powered to the rear wheels making this a raw and fun 4 seater coupe. As You grow older You realise that 500/600 BHP super cars like the Bmw M5 or Audi RS6 cannot be enjoyed on Our Uk roads.

Toyota certainly nailed this with using a Flat 4 2.0 powerplant with no extreme driver aids and computers making this a proper fun coupe that's every day friendly and quite economical too. This absolutely beautiful example looks amazing especially with the bronze finish alloy wheels contrasting against the immaculate gloss black paintwork. We think You will certainly be pushed to find a better example this age it really is superb and has clearly been cherished by its owner since 2019.

This vehicle also has the rear camera,Led Headlights and heated seats. Please don't compare ours to neglected or Category vehicles for sale. Fully HPI Clear example!

UK delivery available at a reasonable cost.

About the Toyota Gt86

The Toyota GT86, along with its Subaru BRZ twin, burst onto the UK scene as a refreshing antidote to increasingly complex sports cars. It’s a pure, driver-focused, rear-wheel-drive coupé prioritising balance and engagement over outright horsepower. Known for its naturally aspirated 2.0-litre Boxer engine and communicative chassis, the GT86 appeals strongly to enthusiasts seeking an affordable, analogue driving experience, making it a cult classic in the British performance car market.

Why Buy a Used Toyota GT86?

  • The GT86 offers an incredibly engaging and dynamic rear-wheel-drive driving experience that is hard to find at its price point, perfect for B-roads and track days.
  • Toyota's renowned reliability means that, despite being a sports car, the GT86 generally holds up well to spirited driving and offers relatively low running costs for its class.
  • Its popularity among enthusiasts has led to extensive aftermarket support, allowing owners to easily modify and personalise their vehicle for improved performance or aesthetics.
  • As a niche sports car that has held its value reasonably well, buying used means avoiding the steepest depreciation while still enjoying a modern classic.

Typical Price Range

All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.

  • 2012–2015: £9,000 – £14,000 — At this price, you're looking at earlier models, potentially with higher mileage, but still offering the core GT86 driving experience.
  • 2016–2018: £14,500 – £18,500 — This range covers pre-facelift models with lower mileage or early facelift cars, often with improved interior finishes and suspension tweaks.
  • 2019–2020: £19,000 – £23,000 — Expect low-mileage examples of the later facelift cars, often with the updated infotainment and potentially in a higher specification.

Common Issues to Check

  • Valve Spring Recall: Ensure any car from 2012-2013 has had the recall addressed, as it was a significant issue for early models.
  • Oil Consumption: Some Boxer engines can exhibit minor oil consumption; regularly check the dipstick and look for excessive smoke on start-up.
  • Interior Rattles: Cheaper plastics can lead to rattles and squeaks, particularly around the dashboard and door cards; test drive on rough roads.
  • Clutch Wear: Pay attention to clutch feel and bite point, especially on manual cars, as spirited driving can accelerate wear.
  • Brake Wear: Check the condition of discs and pads, as these can wear quickly with enthusiastic driving or track use, leading to potential replacement costs.

Running Costs

  • Fuel Economy: 32–36 mpg (combined, manual transmission)
  • Insurance Group: 33–36 (varies by specific trim and year)
  • Servicing: Generally affordable for a sports car, with routine maintenance costs similar to other Toyota models. Main dealer or specialist service options are widely available.

Which Variant Should I Choose?

  • GT86 (Standard/Pro): The base model offers excellent value, delivering the full GT86 experience without unnecessary frills. It's perfect for purists or those planning to modify the car.
  • GT86 TRD Special Edition: These limited editions often feature unique cosmetic enhancements and sometimes minor handling upgrades like different wheels or exhaust systems, appealing to collectors.
  • GT86 (2017 Facelift onwards): These models benefit from revised suspension tuning, minor engine tweaks, and interior upgrades, providing a slightly more refined and capable package for those who can stretch their budget.
  • Manual vs. Automatic: The manual gearbox is widely preferred by enthusiasts for its engaging feel and direct connection to the car, ideal for spirited driving. The automatic offers convenience but slightly dilutes the sports car experience.
