Vehicle Specifications
Description
We don't have enough superlatives for this M5. An absolutely stunning example! It comes with some lovely additional options including the Head up display, 20" light Double spoke alloy wheels, Harman Kardon Hifi system, Silverstone metallic paint and the beautiful Silverstone extended Marino full leather.
A really well maintained example and Premium tyres all round. This V8 has the most tune full of engines, surely a future classic. We know this car well, the previous keeper was local to us in Hale and had some work done by the BMW specialist we share our premises with.
He also had most of his services done by Darren Woods who is the local M-Sport specialist who described this one as the cleanest one he'd worked on. We called Darren before we bought it who confirmed it's an excellent example. You can enquire via Autotrader or directly on our website www.totalautomobiles.co.uk Office number 07470181834.
All our cars get a thorough checkover by the BMW Specialist we share my premises with. That includes an inspection, road test, diagnostic and rectification of any faults. They also come with a fresh MOT and Service.
The checkover and inspection is now complete on this M5. It sailed through. The front brakes are getting low so new discs and pads have been ordered, slight play in a lower arm too so both will be rectified next week.
This 2014 BMW M5 V8 presents a clear vehicle history, offering peace of mind for its next owner. Under the bonnet, a powerful 4.4L petrol engine delivers exhilarating performance, reaching 0-62mph in a swift 4.3 seconds. This impressive acceleration sets it apart from many other vehicles.
The M5 is equipped with striking 20in M Double Spoke Style 343M alloy wheels and features electric front seat adjustment with driver memory for personalised comfort. Practicality is also a strong point, with ample boot space for all your needs, and parking is made easier thanks to front and rear Park Distance Control.

Typical Price Range
All prices are approximate and subject to change based on condition, mileage, specification, and market conditions.
- 2010–2013 (F10): £14,000 – £22,000 — Early F10 models, offering V8 twin-turbo performance at an accessible price point, but check service history diligently.
- 2014–2017 (F10 LCI): £24,000 – £35,000 — Facelifted F10s often with improved infotainment and minor styling tweaks; good value for money.
- 2018–2021 (F90): £45,000 – £65,000 — The current generation, now with xDrive, offering even greater performance and technological advancements; prices vary significantly with spec.
Common Issues to Check
- F10 Rod Bearings: Particularly on early F10 models, rod bearing failures can be a significant and expensive issue; a full service history with evidence of preventative maintenance is crucial.
- Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) Issues: On F10 models, the DCT can suffer from software glitches or, less commonly, mechanical failures; check for smooth shifts.
- Electrics and Infotainment: BMW's iDrive system and other electrical components can sometimes develop glitches; ensure all systems are fully functional.
- Tyre Wear: Due to their power and weight, M5s are notoriously hard on tyres, leading to frequent and costly replacements.
- ULEZ Compliance: Older models, especially early F10s, might need checking against ULEZ standards if you plan to drive in London or other clean air zones.
Running Costs
- Fuel Economy: 18-25 mpg (depending on generation and driving style)
- Insurance Group: 48-50 (very high, expect premium premiums)
- Servicing: Regular servicing is essential and can be costly, especially at BMW main dealers. Factor in specialist M car maintenance and potential for expensive parts. An MOT is an annual requirement for cars over three years old.
Which Variant Should I Choose?
- BMW M5 F10 (2011-2016): Enthusiasts seeking a traditional, raw M car experience with a fantastic V8 twin-turbo. Great for those on a slightly tighter budget who value engagement over ultimate refinement. Be diligent with pre-purchase inspections.
- BMW M5 F90 (2017-Present): Drivers who want cutting-edge performance, advanced technology, and all-weather capability thanks to its selectable xDrive system. Ideal for those who need a practical daily driver but still desire thrilling performance and modern creature comforts.
- BMW M5 F90 Competition (2018-Present): The ultimate M5 experience for the most demanding drivers. Offers increased power, a stiffer chassis, and a more focused driving dynamic. Perfect for track day enthusiasts who also need four doors, or those who simply want the very best and most aggressive M5.
