Built to be found by every AI assistant on the open web

Carslink.ai is the only UK used-vehicle platform engineered from day one to be readable, citeable, and surfaced by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google Gemini. No buyer needs to install an app. The architecture itself makes the platform discoverable.

How it works (the technical bit, in plain English)

We don't rely on any single AI platform's app store. Instead, every layer of the platform is engineered so AI assistants on the open web can read and cite our listings.

Open robots.txt for AI crawlers

GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended are all explicitly welcomed. Most UK platforms either block them or leave the rules ambiguous.

Pre-rendered HTML on every page

Listings, geo pages and category pages are server-rendered with full HTML. AI crawlers see the actual content instead of an empty JavaScript shell, which is what most modern car classified sites serve.

Vehicle structured data on every listing

Each listing carries schema.org Vehicle JSON-LD with make, model, year, price, mileage, fuel, transmission, location and dealer. AI assistants can extract and compare these fields directly.

Cloudflare Worker bot-detection layer

An edge worker detects AI crawlers by user-agent and serves them the pre-rendered HTML version, while humans get the fast interactive app. No cloaking. Both versions show the same listing data.

Open web discoverability vs walled-garden apps

Some platforms require buyers to install a specific app inside a specific assistant to search their inventory. Carslink takes the opposite approach.

Carslink.ai (open web)

  • Discoverable by any AI assistant that crawls the web
  • Buyer just asks their assistant. No install, no account
  • One implementation works across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini
  • No dependency on a single platform's approval or app store

Walled-garden app silos

  • Buyer must install a specific app inside a specific assistant
  • Only works in one assistant. Switch platforms, lose access
  • Subject to each platform's app-store rules and approvals
  • If the buyer doesn't know the app exists, the platform isn't found

Realistic expectations: this is a long game

AI citation frequency builds over three to six months as crawlers re-index, structured data gets weighted, and the platform accrues domain authority. Carslink.ai is engineered for the long term. Every listing, geo page and structured data point compounds over time. Don't expect to ask ChatGPT "find me a BMW" tomorrow and get Carslink as the top citation; do expect that signal to grow steadily as the platform's authority grows.

Frequently asked questions

No. Just as Google doesn't charge you to index your website, we don't charge dealers to make their stock discoverable by AI. Our goal is to aggregate the UK's used-vehicle stock into a single, AI-readable format.

Any AI agent that crawls the open web. This includes ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity, Claude (Anthropic), and Google Gemini. Because we use standard Schema.org structured data, our listings are also surfaced in traditional search results on Google and Bing.

Architecture. Most UK classified sites are built as Single Page Applications that require JavaScript to show content. This is great for humans but difficult for AI crawlers to read reliably. Carslink.ai serves full, pre-rendered HTML to bots while maintaining a fast interactive experience for humans.

We have no plans to build a closed app or plugin for any single AI platform. Our strategy is discoverability as a service — we ensure your stock is found wherever the buyer chooses to search, rather than forcing the buyer into a specific silo.

Search the platform directly

Try the AI-powered search yourself. Describe the car, motorbike or van you're after in plain English (make, budget, fuel type, location).
